Wasp Removal
Wasp nests are one of the more urgent pest problems in Surbiton, especially through the summer months when nests can grow from barely noticeable to genuinely dangerous within a few weeks. They tend to turn up in roof spaces, loft hatches, garden sheds, and gaps under eaves — anywhere sheltered and rarely disturbed. In older Surbiton properties with gaps around roof tiles or soffits, that's often all a queen wasp needs to get started in spring.
By the time most people notice a problem, the nest is usually already well established — a queen builds a small nest alone early on, but by midsummer it can house thousands of workers, all of whom become more defensive as the colony grows. This is why DIY removal tends to go wrong: disturbing a large nest without the right protective equipment is how most sting incidents happen, and shop-bought sprays often aren't strong enough to fully deal with a nest that's reached this size. Getting it looked at as soon as you notice repeated activity around one spot is generally safer, and easier to treat, than waiting until the nest is fully grown.
